The Turkish Flour Industrialists Federation stated that they expect the wheat harvest to be productive this year and said, “We aim for our flour exports to push the 4 million tons band this season.”
In a written statement, Tezcan pointed out that wheat harvest started early this year due to changing climatic conditions.
Stating that they expect a productive season, Tezcan said, “2023 was a year in which we managed to break records for our country. With the support of our government and relevant institutions, we, as flour industrialists, have been the export leader in the world for the last 10 years. This year, we estimate that we will approach the record wheat production amount of 22 million tons we reached last year. We aim to push our flour exports to 4 million tons this season.”
Touching on the steps they will take on green transformation, Tezcan said, “Within the scope of the Green Covenant, we will accelerate our efforts to maintain quality, increase efficiency and reset the carbon footprint in the coming seasons. With this transformation, the number and variety of our value-added products will increase. In addition, encouraging and economically incentivizing small producers with our new contracted production model will illuminate our path in creating a sustainable agricultural model.”
Stating that the news that the Ministry of Trade will limit the inward processing regime worries exporters, Tezcan noted that this may cause the sector to experience competition problems.
