Five attackers were neutralized in an operation following an attack on a synagogue and a church in Dagestan, Russia.

An operation was organized to capture the suspects alleged to have carried out simultaneous terrorist attacks on a synagogue, two churches and a police checkpoint in Dagestan, Russia. Following the incident in which 9 people were killed and 25 people were wounded, the buildings where the suspects were hiding were detected in the cities of Makhachkala and Derbent in the operation that started with the closure of entrances and exits to Dagestan.
Teams of the Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee organized operations against the surrounded buildings. While some suspects resisted by setting up barricades, suspects died on the spot in armed clashes.

The National Anti-Terrorism Committee provided information about the suspects neutralized in the operations called anti-terrorist operations, saying, “5 militants were neutralized during the anti-terrorist operation in the Republic of Dagestan.” It was also stated that the active phase of the operations in the region has been completed.

On the other hand, it was claimed that the children of Sergokalinsky Mayor Magomed Omarov were among those who carried out the attacks in Dagestan. While it was learned that Omarov was interrogated after the incident, a written statement was made by the United Russia Party, one of the founders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. While it was confirmed that the mayor was a member of the United Russia Party, “The Presidium of the Political Council of the United Russia Party expelled Magomed Omarov from the party. The decision was taken in accordance with the charter of the United Russia Party for actions defaming the party,” the statement said.
