Operations at Kenya’s busiest airport, Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, are expected to return to normal after workers called off a two-day strike on Tuesday.

The strike had severely disrupted travel on Monday, causing flight delays of up to six hours and forcing airlines to advise passengers to rebook their trips. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that services would resume immediately following a return-to-work agreement between the trade union and the transport ministry.

The workers had been demanding better pay, benefits, and improved working conditions. Talks were held on Tuesday to address how these demands would be met.

Transport Minister Davies Chirchir said the government remains committed to keeping the aviation sector stable, especially since the airport is a key hub for both regional and international travel.

Kenya Airways also announced that it is working to normalize schedules, with full operations expected to resume within 24 hours.
