Independent MP and former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has relayed allegations from the director of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza regarding the return of dozens of boxes containing human remains.
Corbyn said he received a message from Dr Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of Al-Shifa Hospital, claiming that around 66 boxes of remains were delivered to the facility. According to the account, some of the remains were severely mutilated and difficult to identify.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said the bodies were handed over via the International Committee of the Red Cross and described them as being in a state that complicates forensic identification. Medical officials reportedly cited surgical markings on some bodies, raising allegations that organs may have been removed. These claims have not been independently verified.
Corbyn described the situation as deeply disturbing and linked it to broader concerns about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza Strip.
On Monday, Corbyn also appeared outside Westminster Magistrates’ Court in support of activists facing charges related to organising a pro-Palestinian demonstration, stating that the right to protest must be protected.
The allegations regarding the remains are likely to intensify international scrutiny and calls for transparent investigations.
