Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that investigations are underway following the crash of a Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jet in western Balikesir province, which resulted in the death of its pilot.
Speaking in Ankara, Erdogan expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Air Force pilot Major Ibrahim Bolat, offering condolences to his family, the Turkish Air Force, and the nation.
Earlier, Türkiye’s National Defence Ministry said the aircraft had taken off from the 9th Main Jet Base Command in Balıkesir at 12:56 AM local time before radio contact and tracking information were lost. The jet later crashed, and a full investigation has been launched to determine the cause.
Authorities said all necessary procedures are being carried out by the relevant institutions.
