Türkiye’s economy is projected to reach $1.6 trillion in 2026, according to Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, who outlined the country’s economic trajectory during the Türkiye–Azerbaijan–Georgia Business Forum in Tsinandali, Georgia.

Bolat emphasized that the projected figure represents a sixfold increase compared to 2002, when President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan first came to power. He added that GDP per capita is expected to reach $18,000 this year — roughly five and a half times higher than in 2002 — positioning Türkiye as Europe’s fifth-largest economy.

Describing the forum as the “Davos of the Caucasus,” Bolat underscored the strategic importance of the region, calling it a crossroads of cultures and a vital corridor linking East and West, as well as North and South.

He highlighted Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Georgia’s central role in global energy transfer and logistics routes, expressing optimism about expanding cooperation in port operations, aviation, IT, and artificial intelligence.
