Israel relocated its official government aircraft, the Boeing 767 known as the “Wing of Zion,” to Germany over the weekend for security reasons, Friedrich Merz’s spokesperson confirmed Monday. No Israeli officials were aboard when the plane landed at a Berlin airport on Saturday; only the flight crew was present.

Flight data showed the plane departed Israel early Saturday, circled over the Mediterranean Sea for several hours, and then landed in Berlin that evening. The aircraft, specially equipped with advanced secure communications, serves for overseas trips by both Israel’s president and Benjamin Netanyahu.

Officials emphasized that the relocation was a precautionary measure, though social media speculation briefly suggested that Netanyahu might be traveling to Germany.
