Türkiye announced it has deployed six F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets and air defense systems to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to strengthen the territory’s security. The move was confirmed in a statement by the Turkish National Defense Ministry, which said the deployment is part of a gradual plan to increase protection in the region.

Officials said additional military steps could be taken depending on how the situation develops. The deployment comes as tensions rise in the Middle East following military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran.

At the same time, Greece has also increased its military presence in the area, with Greek F-16V fighter jets landing at Paphos Airport in Cyprus after recent Iranian attacks linked to the regional escalation.

The developments highlight growing security concerns in the eastern Mediterranean as conflicts in the Middle East continue to affect nearby regions.
