A new study by the Centre for Media Monitoring found that almost half of news articles about Muslims in the United Kingdom in 2025 contained some level of bias. The report analyzed more than 40,000 articles from 30 major media outlets and found that around 20,000 included biased portrayals.
According to the study, about 70% of the articles linked Muslims or Islam with negative issues or behaviors. Researchers said this pattern reflects structural bias in how Muslims are represented in parts of the British press.
The report identified several outlets with high levels of biased coverage, including The Spectator, which had the highest proportion of very biased articles. Other outlets mentioned included GB News, The Telegraph, The Jewish Chronicle, Daily Express, The Sun, Daily Mail, and The Times.
Rizwana Hamid, director of the Centre for Media Monitoring, described the findings as deeply concerning and said they highlight ongoing challenges in fair media representation.
