Türkiye said a ballistic munition launched from Iran and entering Turkish airspace was intercepted and neutralised by NATO air and missile defence systems deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean.
In a statement released on Friday, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense said all necessary measures were being taken to respond to any threat targeting the country’s territory or airspace.
The ministry added that consultations were underway with the relevant country to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officials also said Türkiye is closely monitoring developments across the region and assessing them with national security as the top priority.
