Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq have held a high-level phone call focusing on bilateral ties and the rapidly escalating security situation in the Middle East.
Erdogan warned that recent attacks on Iran, followed by retaliatory actions affecting neighboring countries, are pushing the region toward an unprecedented security crisis. He stressed that any attacks targeting Oman are unacceptable and risk further destabilizing the region.
Despite the heightened tensions, Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to diplomatic engagement, emphasizing that mediation efforts remain a priority and will continue under all circumstances.
The Turkish president also criticized restrictions on Muslim access to Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, calling the situation unacceptable, while highlighting the urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
He further underscored the importance of sustaining international peace initiatives, including efforts led by the recently established Peace Board, with the aim of advancing a two-state solution.
The conversation concluded with Erdogan extending his best wishes to the Omani leadership ahead of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
