Saudi Arabia has warned it may take military action in response to repeated missile and drone attacks blamed on Iran
Speaking in Riyadh Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said the kingdom would not give in to pressure and has the right to respond if necessary
He accused Iran of attempting to pressure its neighbours through continued strikes and warned that such actions could backfire stressing that escalation would be met with escalation
The remarks came after multiple explosions were heard in Riyadh with Saudi authorities confirming that ballistic missiles had been intercepted
Prince Faisal condemned attacks targeting civilian infrastructure across the Gulf including residential areas oil facilities airports and diplomatic sites He rejected Iran’s claims that the strikes were aimed at US interests calling the justification weak
During a regional meeting of Arab and Islamic foreign ministers in Riyadh participants issued a joint statement condemning the use of missiles and drones against civilian targets and reaffirmed the right of countries to defend themselves
The ministers also called on Iran to immediately halt its attacks and reduce tensions as fears grow over a wider regional conflict
