Africa has emerged as the world’s fastest-growing tourism region in 2025, recording a 12% increase in international arrivals during the first half of the year, according to UN Tourism data.

Both major regions contributed to this surge, with North Africa posting a 14% rise and Sub-Saharan Africa growing by 11%, reflecting renewed global interest in African destinations. The figures highlight a strong recovery in the sector, driven by both regional travel and international demand.

At the national level, Morocco stood out with a remarkable 19% increase in tourist arrivals, ranking among the top-performing countries globally, just behind Japan and Vietnam. This performance underscores the country’s growing appeal as a leading travel destination.

Globally, international tourism also showed solid recovery, with 690 million travelers recorded between January and June 2025—an increase of 5% compared to the previous year and surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

Despite ongoing economic and geopolitical uncertainties, UN Tourism remains optimistic, forecasting continued global growth of 3% to 5% for the full year.
