The management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has accused Ukrainian forces of carrying out a drone attack on one of its external radiation monitoring laboratories.
According to the plant’s statement, the strike did not cause casualties and no critical damage was found. Operations at the facility are continuing as normal, and officials say the situation remains under control.
However, the targeted lab plays an important role it continuously monitors radiation levels, tracks weather conditions, and helps predict responses in case of nuclear emergencies. Any disruption to this system could delay detection and response to potential risks.
The plant’s management has informed inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency about the incident.
While immediate danger has not been reported, the situation highlights ongoing concerns about nuclear safety in conflict zones, where even minor damage could have serious consequences.
