The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Thursday it shared a draft of its governance diagnostic assessment with the Kenyan government and is awaiting their comments.

The assessment is designed to flag governance weaknesses and corruption vulnerabilities, and feedback from the government could untangle negotiations for a new fund-supported programme. Publication of the assessment is subject to the Kenyan government’s consent.

The fund also said it is engaging in discussions on the timing for the next annual visit, also known as the Article IV consultation on the state of the Kenyan economy’s health.

The final review of their most recent programme was abandoned early in 2025.
