Congolese journalist and influencer Denise Dusauchoy was over the weekend arrested in Tanzania at the request of the authorities in DR Congo.

In a statement on Monday, the Congolese ministry of justice said the arrest followed an arrest warrant issued by a court in the country. Kinshasa indicated that the measure was part of several ongoing criminal investigations and does not presume her guilt.

Dusauchoy, who is critical of the government of President Félix Tshisekedi, has openly expressed support for the AFC/M23, a rebel coalition that controls vast territories in eastern DRC, in a conflict that pits the group against the Congolese armed forces.

In December 2024, she was sentenced to three years in prison in Kinshasa for spreading false rumors, forgery and public insults.
