More than 100 people are estimated to have died in a landslide in the South Pacific country of Papua New Guinea.

According to the Australian public broadcaster ABC, a landslide occurred in the village of Kaokalam, 600 kilometers northwest of the capital Port Moresby.

Eyewitnesses reported that more than 100 people were buried under the earth, but the casualties have not yet been officially confirmed.

In the videos on social media, it was seen that the rock mass breaking off from the top of the mountain dragged the soil on the slope and piled up on the houses in the village.
