Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said, “2 thousand years old fascinating elegant depictions of Zeus and Aphrodite were unearthed during the excavations.”

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy reported that 2 statues belonging to the Roman Empire period were found during the excavations carried out in the Ancient City of Aspendos.

In a statement made on his social media account, Minister Ersoy stated that the excavation works carried out within the scope of the “Heritage for the Future Project” continue uninterruptedly.

Providing information about the works in the Ancient City of Aspendos, Ersoy said:

“During the excavations carried out within the scope of our ‘Heritage to the Future’ project in the Ancient City of Aspendos, 2 magnificent sculptures from the Roman Empire period were discovered. The 2 thousand years old fascinating elegant depictions of Zeus and Aphrodite were unearthed during the excavations carried out in the Two-storey Shops-Stoa Complex. I wish that the artifacts and structures we will raise will be beneficial for the cultural and tourism life of our country.”
