The driver of a water tanker belonging to Sivas Municipality hit a 75-year-old old man and fled the scene. The old man, who fractured two ribs, filed a complaint against those responsible.
According to eyewitnesses, 75-year-old Kazım Erşan was walking to the bus stop to go to the city center when a water tanker belonging to Sivas Municipality hit him and fled the scene. Erşan was taken to the hospital by the paramedics who arrived at the scene upon the notification of the bystanders. Erşan was treated at the hospital and it was determined that two of his ribs were fractured. Erşan, who also had wounds on various parts of his body, complained to the municipality and filed a complaint against those responsible. It turned out that the driver, who went to the police station 3 hours after the accident, defended himself by stating that he had nothing to do with the incident. On the other hand, it was learned that Erşan had lost his life in the past years when a funeral vehicle belonging to another municipality hit his sister.

Stating that he was always cautious because he had an ear disability, accident victim Kazım Erşan said, “I crossed the road and went to the median. I checked my right side and the bus was coming and there was no other car. Then I crossed the road and cars were parked there. Then I remember throwing myself in the middle of the two wheels so that the wheel would not pass over me.”
“In the units we call, everyone says it’s not my unit, we don’t know”
Yusuf Erşan, the son of the old man, who said that they called the municipality units but could not deal with anyone, said, “My friend called me and told me not to be afraid but your father was hit by a car. I was on the road and immediately called my brothers. When my brothers went to the scene, the ambulance came, the hit vehicle ran away and left. We asked the friends there and they said it was a municipal water tanker. We searched, we called the municipality, we tried to reach them. Everyone in the departments we called said it was not my department, we don’t know. There was an accident and the municipality’s vehicle was involved. Let them come and take a look. After all, there is a matter of life here. Maybe he could have died, God forbid. No one has given us any feedback at the moment. So this is the point where we are most victimized. We already lost one of my aunts because of the municipality’s car, and now my father was hit by a municipality car. They should apologize, they should take a look and say sorry. Three hours after the incident, he goes to the police station and says I hit someone here, but it has nothing to do with me. There is no such justice system. I am a complainant.”
One key in his pocket was broken and the other was bent. Son Erşan said that he could have died if the bent key had hit him in the stomach like that, “Who would be responsible if my father had died? Even if a person hits a dog, they stop and take it to the vet. If a person hits a human being and he is lying on the ground, why doesn’t he take him or call an ambulance? We supported him with everything during the election. Why did we support him if the result would be like this? Why doesn’t anyone come? So what is the reason? I am very angry about this. After all, Sivas Municipality is written on that vehicle. Someone from the deputy, supervisor, officer should have come to me and said how are you. This municipality is my municipality. It is the municipality of my hometown, I am from Sivas, we are children of Sivas. If we are children of our hometown, we have to come. No one’s life can be so cheap. What will happen if it happens to my father today and someone else’s child tomorrow? Isn’t that a pity and a sin? They won’t take anyone who says they are a driver. My father has two cracked ribs right now. There is no part of his body that is not scratched. He already has a full head wound. He was unconscious. He was unconscious for three hours. His right arm is already useless. There is tissue loss. There is tissue loss on his cheek. Stitches were applied. We are complaining against those responsible.”
