According to Yonhap, the fire brigade responded to a fire at a lithium battery production factory called “Aricell” in Hwaseong city, south of Seoul.

It was stated that 22 people died according to the first determinations due to the fire, and the identities of the dead workers have not yet been determined.

It was stated that 4 people, 2 of whom were seriously injured, were transferred to the hospital, and the search for 1 person who was recorded as missing continued. It was stated that search efforts were continuing with difficulty due to the risk of explosion.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol issued an emergency order to mobilize all available personnel and equipment to extinguish the fire and rescue the trapped workers.

Minister of Interior and Security Lee Sang-min also asked relevant government agencies and local governments to mobilize all available resources and facilities.
