Renewed clashes in South Sudan’s Jonglei State have forced around 280,000 people to flee their homes since December, according to the United Nations.
The fighting involves forces loyal to President Salva Kiir and troops aligned with suspended Vice President Riek Machar, reviving tensions that once plunged the young nation into civil war.
Humanitarian agencies warn that worsening violence and food shortages are pushing hundreds of thousands toward acute malnutrition across Jonglei, Unity and Eastern Equatoria states.
Hospitals in the regional capital Bor are struggling to cope with the surge of displaced families, with medical staff reporting severe shortages of essential supplies.
Aid groups say children are among the hardest hit, with many displaced multiple times and lacking access to education and basic services.
