Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Emmanuel Macron discussed strengthening defence cooperation among NATO allies during a phone call, according to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate.

The two leaders exchanged views on bilateral relations as well as ongoing regional and global conflicts.

Erdogan said the current geopolitical climate makes closer defence coordination within NATO increasingly necessary, urging faster progress on long-delayed joint defence industry initiatives.

He also warned that prolonging the conflict involving Iran could create broader instability, emphasising Türkiye’s efforts to encourage diplomacy and a return to negotiations.
