Thousands of animals perished in a fire that broke out in Chatuchak, the famous weekend market in Thailand’s capital Bangkok. Authorities said there were 118 pet shops in the area.
In a statement made by the Chatuchak District Office, it was announced that the fire broke out at around 04.10 local time today, and the fire brigades that arrived in the area extinguished the fire at 04.38.
It was stated that thousands of animals perished as a result of the fire in the region where there are many pet shops.
Officials stated that according to the first determinations, the fire started in a shop selling dogs, but the cause of the fire is not yet known and investigations are ongoing.
Thai media reported that many exotic animals also died in the fire.
