Torrential rains have caused devastating floods in Angola, especially in Benguela and the capital Luanda, leaving 29 people dead, 17 injured, and 3 missing.

Benguela, a coastal city, was the hardest hit, with 23 deaths and most of the injuries. Thousands of homes were flooded, and over 200 houses collapsed, forcing many families out of their homes. Boats and vehicles were also damaged by the rising waters.

In Luanda, six people lost their lives, and infrastructure suffered serious damage. Flooding disrupted electricity, telecommunications, healthcare, and schools, while landslides and fallen trees added to the chaos.

In total, more than 33,000 people have been affected, showing how widespread the disaster is.

The floods highlight how vulnerable communities can be to extreme weather, especially when heavy rains overwhelm homes, roads, and essential services.
