Mamady Doumbouya, who has been away from Conakry for over two weeks, is reportedly in good health, officials said Monday. The 41-year-old president left Guinea on February 13 to attend an African Union summit in Addis Ababa and has not yet returned.
Doumbouya came to power in a coup and was formally elected to a seven-year presidential term in December 2025. Since then, he has remained mostly out of the public eye, making only brief appearances during the campaign and while voting.
His adviser, Thierno Mamadou Bah, said Doumbouya took a few days of rest during the summit and underwent routine medical checks. “Everything is going very well,” Bah said, reassuring citizens that the president is fit to continue his duties and will return to Conakry “in the next few days.”
