 Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan received Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, in Ankara on Tuesday. The meeting focused on strengthening diplomatic ties and expanding multi-dimensional cooperation between the two countries.

According to diplomatic sources, the talks covered political, economic and trade relations, as well as potential cooperation in the fields of defense, security and development. Both sides expressed their commitment to further enhancing bilateral relations and exploring concrete partnership projects.

The ministers also exchanged views on the security situation in the Sahel region, regional stability and counter-terrorism efforts. Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to building partnerships with African countries on the basis of equality and mutual respect, while Sangaré expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s support for Niger.

The meeting was described as an important step toward deepening diplomatic engagement and implementing practical cooperation initiatives between the two countries.
