Cihat Çelik, who lives in Rize, built a 70 square meter duplex house on a 12-meter iron pole.

Explaining that such a house was his childhood dream, 38-year-old Çelik stated that he bought a 12-meter iron pole with a load-bearing capacity of 30 tons with the advice of his friend.

Explaining that he has an adventurous character, Çelik said, “I love such structures since my childhood. At first I didn’t think it was possible, but when I used my imagination, everything fell into place and I started to build the house.”

Çelik noted that he screwed the house he designed to the top of the pole using 14 steel barriers and said, “After creating a floor area on the ground, we lifted the pole with the help of a crane and fixed it to the ground with steel screws. We tried hard and it took a long time. We had to try several times. The crane lifted from the place we fixed it in some of our attempts. The process took a long time because the roads were bad and it was difficult for the crane to go back and forth.”

Stating that he suffered a fracture in his skull and spinal cord as a result of being hit by the overturned crane during the construction of the house about 3 years ago, Çelik said that after a long treatment, he started working again despite having 4 platinum in his spinal cord.

Çelik mentioned that he completed a 70 square meter bungalow house with an entrance 12 meters above the ground and a roof 20 meters above the ground as a result of long efforts and said, “The house is 2 + 1 and 70 square meters. The first floor consists of a living room, kitchen and balcony, and the second floor consists of a bathroom, toilet and 2 rooms, one of which is a children’s room.”

Emphasizing that he is happy to realize his dream, Çelik said, “Achieving something like this was my biggest dream. It gives me peace of mind to have achieved this. My dream was to look at this view. We suffered so much trouble and stress because of this. It is a beautiful feeling to achieve this, there is no description.”

Stating that work is still ongoing in the house, Çelik said that he is thinking of covering the balcony so that he can use it in rainy weather.

Explaining that he did research on the internet about interesting houses, Çelik said, “There is no such structure on a single pole of 12 meters. There is a peace that it gives. I have achieved something that did not happen.”

Çelik stated that no one encouraged him while building the house and made the following assessment:

“There were big winds two years ago, and when it was not damaged, it started to give confidence. The roofs of the neighbors here were blown off, but nothing happened to my house. When there is wind, I come directly to the house, I watch the reaction and the effect. There was no damage.”

“It is interesting for tourism”

Orhan Alptekin, who stated that he saw the house on the pole while visiting friends, said, “It is very interesting, built on a single pole. We thank the builder. Interesting structures are also interesting in terms of tourism. It is intertwined with nature.”

İshak Güngör stated that when they saw the pole, they thought that a base station would be built and said:

“We later learned that a house would be built, but we did not know what would come out. We watched all the stages one by one. As a result, such a masterpiece emerged. It requires a great engineering work. It is high, there is wind and snow. Although there is wind where we are sitting, there is no shaking. The pleasure is priceless.”

Cem Sultan Karabulut said that he closely followed the construction of the house and said, “Say ‘impossible’ to Black Sea people and Rize people and then sit and watch. Every time I come from Istanbul, I come here before the house in the village. After taking the air of this place, I move to my house.”

Emphasizing that Çelik had a serious accident during the construction of the house, Karabulut continued as follows:

“He went through a very difficult process. God spared him to us. The hospital process was also difficult, but as the Black Sea region’s classic saying goes, ‘where our hope ends, our stubbornness begins.’ He finished the project after regaining his health. He proved those who said ‘he can’t do it, he can’t do it, he can’t do it’ wrong. Those who said ‘he can’t do it’ are now making reservations for Cihat to have tea on the balcony.
