Here are the new number of MPs for provinces: Which provinces have increased or decreased the number of MPs?

Bursa, Eskişehir, Tunceli and Bayburt increased by one, while the number of deputies of Hatay and Kütahya decreased by one, and the number of deputies of Istanbul decreased by 2.

According to the High Electoral Council’s (YSK) table of the distribution of the number of deputies of the provinces within the scope of population data, the number of deputies of Bursa, Eskişehir, Tunceli and Bayburt increased by one, while the number of deputies of Hatay and Kütahya decreased by one, and the number of deputies of Istanbul decreased by 2.

In the SBE decision published in the Official Gazette, it was reminded that Article 5 of the Law No. 2839 on Parliamentary Elections stipulates that the electoral districts and the number of deputies to be elected in each electoral district shall be announced within 6 months at the latest after the general population census results are announced.

In the decision, it was stated that the latest population data of December 31, 2023 was announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, and in this context, the distribution of 600 MPs according to provinces and electoral districts was included.

Accordingly, Ankara will have 36 deputies, Istanbul 96, Izmir 28.

According to the table, the number of deputies in Bursa, Eskişehir, Tunceli and Bayburt increased by one, the number of deputies in Hatay and Kütahya decreased by one, while the number of deputies in Istanbul decreased by 2. Bursa’s number of MPs increased from 20 to 21, Eskişehir’s number of MPs increased from 6 to 7, Tunceli and Bayburt’s number of MPs increased from 1 to 2. The number of deputies in Hatay decreased from 11 to 10, in Kütahya from 5 to 4 and in Istanbul from 98 to 96.
