Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed optimism ahead of a third round of indirect negotiations with the United States, saying the talks could help move beyond the current “neither war nor peace” situation.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi departed for Geneva to lead Tehran’s delegation in the new round of nuclear discussions. The talks are being held under Omani mediation following earlier rounds in Geneva and Muscat.

The American delegation is expected to be led by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, senior adviser to President Donald Trump.

Both sides previously described earlier discussions as constructive, agreeing on guiding principles that could pave the way for a potential deal. Araghchi said Iran seeks a “fair and equitable” agreement and reiterated that Tehran will not develop nuclear weapons, while maintaining its right to peaceful nuclear technology.

The talks come amid heightened tensions, including a US military buildup in the Gulf and military exercises by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.

Analysts say the outcome of this round could shape the future of diplomacy between Tehran and Washington.
