Iran has vowed a strong response following the assassination of senior security official Ali Larijani, who was killed in an Israeli air strike, significantly escalating regional tensions.

Army chief Amir Hatami warned that Iran’s retaliation would be “decisive and regrettable,” signaling a potential intensification of the conflict. In parallel, the Revolutionary Guards announced that missile strikes had already been launched toward central Israel, describing the action as revenge for Larijani and those killed alongside him.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed the killing, which reportedly also claimed the lives of Larijani’s son and bodyguards. Israel has acknowledged responsibility for the strike.

Larijani was a key figure in Iran’s political and security establishment, holding senior roles across multiple institutions over several decades, including positions in state media, parliament, and national security structures.

His assassination marks a critical moment in the ongoing confrontation between Iran and Israel, raising concerns over a broader escalation in the region.
