Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused Israel of escalating attacks on Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank despite a ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025.

Speaking at an iftar dinner in Ankara during Ramadan, Erdoğan said the Israeli government continues to disregard international law and intensify military actions, even after the truce — which he said was secured in part through Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts.

He described Palestinians in Gaza as observing the holy month under harsh conditions, breaking their fast in damaged shelters while refusing to “bow to oppression.” Erdoğan also pointed to ongoing obstacles to humanitarian aid, citing restrictions and alleged abuses at the Rafah border crossing, a key entry point for supplies.

Israel launched its offensive on Gaza on October 8, 2023. According to Gaza health authorities, more than 72,000 people have been killed and over 171,000 injured since the start of the conflict. Despite the ceasefire, officials in Gaza report hundreds of alleged violations resulting in additional casualties.

Erdoğan expressed solidarity with Palestinians and voiced hope that the holy days would bring peace to oppressed communities worldwide.
