Kemal Sunal’s movie “The Laughing Man” came true in Adana’s Kozan district. The tire repairman said that he was not allowed to attend funerals because he laughed all the time like Kemal Sunal.
The movie “The Laughing Man” directed by Kartal Tibet and starring Kemal Sunal as Yusuf Şaplak came true in Kozan. Ali Tutar (42), a married father of two children and a tire repairman, is constantly laughing just like Kemal Sunal. Known as “Laughing Ali” in the district, the tradesman attracts everyone’s attention by laughing at his work regardless of the extreme heat in the region. Tutar, who laughs at every event, cannot go to funerals because of this. Tutar said, “Everyone comes here to laugh with us. They call me ‘Ali Tutar the Laughing Man’. I laugh even if the weather is very hot. Laughing in the heat does not tire me. My jaw does not hurt. I work in 60-degree heat. It makes no difference to me, I can never get angry.”
Tutar, explaining that he has the most difficulty at funerals, said, “I have the most difficulty at funerals. I don’t go to funerals much, I put a ban on myself because I laugh at funerals. I cannot go to other people’s funerals except our own. People come to me to laugh more than to change tires.”
