In a post on the X account of the Space Weather Prediction Center of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, it was noted that the largest eruption of the current solar flare cycle occurred yesterday.
In the statement, it was stated that the explosion in question was the 17th largest solar flare recorded at all times, and it was stated that some radio transmitters and similar technical equipment may be affected due to the powerful explosion, which is characterized as class X.
In the related news reflected in the American media, it was stated that the explosion occurred at around 13.00 noon local time in the US and did not significantly affect the Earth.
Noting that the X8.7-level flare was one of the most violent flares in this class, the news underlined that this was the largest flare detected since 2017.
Solar flares are classified from Class A to Class X and each class is scaled from 1 to 9.
