Bola Tinubu has raised concerns over persistent terrorism threats as he met Keir Starmer in London during his state visit to the United Kingdom
Speaking at 10 Downing Street Tinubu said terrorism remains a major challenge not only for Nigeria but for the entire world adding that both Nigeria and Britain are affected by growing insecurity and the impacts of climate change
Starmer welcomed the Nigerian leader and emphasised the ambition to deepen ties between United Kingdom and Nigeria particularly in trade defence and cooperation
Nigeria has faced a long-running terrorism crisis since 2009 mainly linked to extremist groups operating in the northeast
The visit marks the first state visit by a Nigerian leader to Britain in 37 years highlighting renewed diplomatic engagement between the two nations
Earlier Tinubu and his wife were hosted at a state banquet by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle where they also took part in ceremonial events including a carriage procession and guard of honour
