Victor Osimhen delivered a historic performance as Galatasaray advanced to the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League with a dramatic 7–5 aggregate win over Juventus.
Despite a 3–2 defeat on the night in Turin, the Turkish champions progressed after extra time. Osimhen struck in the first half of extra time, calmly finishing through goalkeeper Mattia Perin’s legs after being set up by Barış Alper Yılmaz, restoring Galatasaray’s aggregate lead at a crucial moment.
The goal marked Osimhen’s 13th in European competition for Galatasaray, making him the club’s all-time leading foreign scorer in the Champions League. He surpassed the previous record of 12 goals held by former Czech striker Milan Baros.
Juventus had mounted a spirited comeback after trailing 5–2 from the first leg in Istanbul. Manuel Locatelli scored from the penalty spot, and later goals from Federico Gatti and Weston McKennie pushed the tie into extra time despite the Italian side being reduced to 10 men.
Yılmaz added a second extra-time goal to seal qualification, while Osimhen was named Player of the Match — his fourth such award in this season’s competition. The Nigerian forward has now recorded seven goals and two assists in this year’s Champions League campaign.
Galatasaray will face either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur in the Round of 16, with the draw set for Friday.
