Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss growing regional tensions linked to the widening confrontation involving Iran.

According to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, Erdoğan expressed his well-wishes after recent strikes targeting Saudi Arabia and warned that failing to stop the escalation could have “very serious consequences” for both regional and global security.

The crisis comes as Iran has launched missile and drone attacks on US military installations across several Middle Eastern countries, saying the strikes are retaliation for joint attacks by the United States and Israel inside Iran. Those earlier strikes reportedly killed senior Iranian figures, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Amid the rising tensions, Erdoğan stressed that Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have worked hard to promote dialogue in the region. He described diplomacy as the most reasonable and effective way to prevent a wider war.

Ankara has consistently positioned itself as supporting de-escalation, warning that unchecked military conflict could destabilise not just the Middle East, but global security as well.
