Burkina Faso has signed a new five-year health funding deal with the United States under former President Donald Trump’s program. The agreement will see the US provide 147 million dollars, while Burkina Faso will contribute 107 million dollars during the same period.

This decision has raised eyebrows because Burkina Faso, led by President Ibrahim Traoré, has recently been distancing itself from Western powers and strengthening other international partnerships. Many observers did not expect the country to enter into a major financial agreement with the US.

Despite political tensions, the deal shows that both countries are still willing to cooperate when it comes to health funding and development. The agreement focuses on supporting health programs in Burkina Faso over the next five years.
