At least 57 people have been killed in two separate drone attacks in Sudan, according to medical sources and local volunteers.

In the deadliest incident, a drone strike hit a pickup truck carrying mourners to a funeral on the road between Abu Zabad and El-Fula. The attack killed at least 40 people, many of them women. Witnesses said the victims were relatives traveling together to attend a funeral and were later buried in the same place.

A second strike occurred the following day in Shukairi, near Kosti. The attack targeted a secondary school and a health care center, killing at least 17 people, most of them schoolgirls. Another ten people were injured and taken to Douiem Hospital for treatment.

Local medical officials blamed the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the attack, though the group has not commented.

The strikes come amid the ongoing war between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces, which began in April 2023. The conflict has already killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions across the country as both sides battle for control of key regions, including oil-rich areas in Kordofan.
