The Starship rocket of the US space transportation company SpaceX successfully completed its 4th test flight and made a soft landing on earth for the first time.
Starship, the world’s largest and most powerful space rocket developed by the US space transportation company SpaceX, has successfully completed its 4th test flight.
Starship was launched from the Starbase field in the US state of Texas at 15.50 pm. Starship and its first stage booster, known as Super Heavy, made a soft landing in the Gulf of Mexico for the first time after the flight. For the first time, the test flight successfully achieved the main objectives of both stages.
Elon Musk, owner of SpaceX, said in a statement: “Despite multiple slab losses and a damaged wing, Starship managed to make a soft landing in the ocean! Congratulations SpaceX team on an epic achievement.”
Communication was lost during Starship’s re-entry on its third flight
During Starship’s 3 test flights, the known first stage booster Super Heavy crashed into the water in the Gulf of Mexico after separation. Starship, which was expected to land in the Indian Ocean, lost communication during re-entry into the atmosphere. SpaceX announced that they assessed that Starship exploded during its entry into the atmosphere.
The first 2 test flights ended in frustration
Starship exploded in the air about 2.5 minutes after launch in the second test flight in November last year, and in the first test flight in April, it exploded and fell into the Gulf of Mexico about 4 minutes after launch due to engine failure.
Starship is 30 meters wide and about 400 meters high. SpaceX designed the rocket with the goal of taking humans to Mars and the moon.
