The Sudanese army has announced that it successfully repelled multiple attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) across Darfur and Kordofan, reporting heavy losses inflicted on the paramilitary group over the past 24 hours.
In an official statement, the army said its forces, alongside allied units, thwarted a large-scale RSF assault in Al Tina, North Darfur, destroying dozens of combat vehicles and killing multiple fighters. Additional clashes in Al Dilling, South Kordofan, were also repelled, with further equipment seized and destroyed.
The military further reported downing a “hostile strategic drone” over Al Obeid, while describing intense fighting in Bara, North Kordofan, where troops later repositioned after what it called significant battlefield gains. However, RSF claimed earlier that it had taken control of the city, highlighting conflicting narratives from both sides.
The renewed escalation has intensified an already severe humanitarian crisis. Ongoing battles across Darfur and the Kordofan regions have forced tens of thousands of civilians to flee in recent weeks.
Since the outbreak of war in April 2023—triggered by disputes over integrating RSF into the national army—the conflict has killed tens of thousands and displaced nearly 13 million people, making it one of the world’s most devastating crises.
