Türkiye and Ethiopia have signed a new energy cooperation agreement to strengthen their partnership and create real, practical projects together.
During President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official visit to Addis Ababa, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Ethiopian Minister Habtamu Itefa signed a memorandum of understanding focused on working jointly in key energy areas.
The agreement includes plans to develop projects in electricity generation, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. The two countries will also cooperate on producing and installing equipment for hydroelectric power plants, including turbines.
Both governments will support investments from the public and private sectors to improve energy infrastructure, such as electricity transmission and distribution systems. They also plan to share knowledge and experience between institutions.
Bayraktar said the goal is to turn cooperation into concrete results, not only in energy but also in other sectors like mining, education, health, transport, agriculture, environment, culture, and tourism.
