Iran has been under a joint US-Israeli bombardment since February 28, resulting in the deaths of more than 40 senior Iranian government officials, including the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

More than 700 civilians have also been killed in the attacks, which triggered a retaliation by Iran.
The US had accused the government of Khamenei of oppressing citizens, and building nuclear weapons, allegations that Iran rejected.
