Ibu Volcano in Indonesia’s North Maluku province spewed lava and ash after a new eruption.

Muhammad Wafid, one of the officials of the Indonesian Geological Administration, made a statement regarding the explosion that occurred in Ibu Volcano.

Wafid stated that the volcano spewed lava and ash after the explosion that lasted about 2 minutes, and that smoke rising up to 5 thousand meters was formed as a result of the explosion.

Authorities warned people to stay at least 7 kilometers away from the volcano.

Ibu Volcano last erupted on June 2, spewing ash and sand 7 thousand meters high.

The activity level of Ibu Volcano, which has erupted nearly 100 times since the beginning of 2024, has been at a high level since May.
