A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Mexico’s southern Guerrero state on Tuesday, according to data from the country’s National Seismological Service.
The tremor was recorded near the town of San Marcos and was felt across parts of the region. During the earthquake, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum was reportedly forced to interrupt a press conference as the shaking was felt.
There have been no immediate reports of casualties or material damage. Authorities are continuing to assess the situation and are monitoring for possible aftershocks.
Emergency services remain on alert while officials urge residents in affected areas to stay cautious and follow instructions from local authorities.
