Turkish Media Executive Meets Niger’s Communication Observatory Chief

Talks focus on Turkish–African media cooperation and future investments in Niger

Meeting at the Office of the President of the National Communication Observatory (ONC): CEO of KAYIOĞLU HOLDİNG Received for a Courtesy Visit
The President of the National Communication Observatory (ONC), Mr. Ibrahim Manzo Diallo, received Mr. Mehmet Kaya, CEO of KAYIOĞLU HOLDİNG, in an audience on Friday, March 6, 2026. The meeting took place in the President’s office meeting room, in the presence of members as well as the Institution’s administrative and technical staff.

Recommended by His Excellency Mr. Özgür Çınar, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Niger, this visit is part of an effort to establish contact and exchange ideas with international stakeholders interested in the development of the media sector in Niger.

During the meeting, Mr. Mehmet Kaya presented several initiatives to the President of the National Communication Office (ONC), including a project entitled “Turkish-African Media Cooperation Forum, Niamey 2026.” This initiative aims to foster exchanges, partnerships, and the sharing of experiences between media professionals from Turkey and those from the African continent, particularly those from Niger.

Discussions also focused on the process of establishing a “Turkish-African Media Cooperation Council,” which is planned to be headquartered in Niamey. In this context, media investment projects such as KAYI TV and KAYI RADIO, as well as the various stages of planned investments in the media sector, were presented and discussed.

Furthermore, both parties discussed the organization of a Turkish-African Media Cooperation Forum in Niamey, planned with high-level participation under the auspices of the future Council. Following this forum, plans were made to establish television studios in Niger, as well as to produce television programs showcasing the country’s talents and cultural richness, including a program entitled “The Talents of Niger.”

The discussions also addressed prospects for cooperation in the media sector, particularly in terms of capacity building, developing joint projects, and promoting sustainable partnerships among industry stakeholders.
