Volodymyr Zelenskyy traveled to Saudi Arabia on Friday to meet Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as Ukraine continues to widen its international partnerships during the ongoing war.

Zelenskyy said discussions focused on cooperation in security, energy, and infrastructure, and described the relationship between Ukraine and Saudi Arabia as “mutual.” The visit is part of a broader effort by Kyiv to build stronger ties outside Europe.

He also highlighted recent diplomatic activity in Europe, saying Ukraine has secured financial guarantees to support its resilience. These talks included meetings with several European leaders such as the presidents and prime ministers of Lithuania, Denmark, Cyprus, and senior officials from the European Union.

During those meetings, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is now actively expanding cooperation beyond Europe, including into the Middle East, the Gulf region, and the Caucasus.

This strategy builds on earlier agreements announced in March, when Ukraine signed 10-year defense cooperation deals with Saudi Arabia and Qatar—marking one of the country’s first long-term security arrangements in the region.

In simple terms, Ukraine is trying to strengthen its global support network—not only for military needs, but also for rebuilding and long-term stability.
