Ersoy stated, “Register at the National Library or through the e-Government system at your local public library, and access the National Library’s digital archive.”

Minister Ersoy, in a statement on his social media account, emphasized that the National Library is now accessible to everyone, from Ankara to Adıyaman, thanks to the National Digital Library Project, which has greatly facilitated access to information.

Ersoy stated, “This unique collection, enriched with written, visual, and audio materials, brings knowledge to every corner of Turkey. A total of 25 million images have been digitized. Access is possible through public libraries located in 66 provinces and districts across Turkey. Register at the National Library or via e-Government at your local public library, and access the National Library’s digital archive.”

National Digital Library Access Stations Established

According to a statement from the Ministry, the National Digital Library Project aims to provide a framework and vision for digitization efforts, enhancing the accessibility of information resources.

The project seeks to create a digital twin of the National Library, making it accessible from public libraries across Turkey. As part of the digitization efforts ongoing since 2015, millions of resources in the National Library archives are being transferred to digital platforms.

In this scope, approximately 25 million images have been digitized. The digitization process for visual and audio materials is also progressing rapidly.

The National Digital Library Access Stations established within the project are now operational in provincial and district public libraries. These stations enable users who have completed membership processes at the National Library or their local public libraries to access millions of digitized resources.

For users who are not yet members, membership can be easily completed through their local public libraries or via the e-Government platform.

Members can conduct research both at the National Library’s İbn-i Sina Reading Hall in Ankara and at public libraries in 66 provinces and districts, from Adıyaman to Zonguldak.

Prominent libraries include Adıyaman, Afyonkarahisar Gedik Ahmet Paşa, Antalya Tekelioğlu, Istanbul Orhan Kemal, and Izmir Atatürk Provincial Public Libraries.

As the National Library’s accelerated digitization efforts continue to expand its digital archive, the number of accessible public libraries is also increasing. Researchers and users will be able to benefit from this ever-growing pool of digital resources.
