Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan international and Paris Saint-Germain F.C. defender, is set to stand trial in France over a rape allegation dating back to February 2023, according to his lawyer and French prosecutors.
A 24-year-old woman reported to police in Val-de-Marne, near Paris, that Hakimi had raped her. The 27-year-old player denies the accusation, stating he awaits the trial calmly and maintains his innocence.
Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, said the case rests solely on the complainant’s account and criticised aspects of the investigation. The Nanterre prosecutor’s office confirmed that a trial has been ordered.
The case is now in the hands of judicial authorities. PSG coach Luis Enrique declined to comment in detail, saying the matter is for the courts.
Hakimi, who began his senior career at Real Madrid CF and previously played for Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, was a key figure in Morocco’s historic run to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals.
