Burkina Faso achieves an African first by securing notarizations with technological labels.
These security labels feature characteristics such as holograms, micro-labeling, demagnetization, and QR codes. They are non-reusable: any attempt to remove them results in self-destruction.
This innovation, set to take effect on January 1, 2025, is seen as a major step forward in combating document forgery. During the launch ceremony, the President of Burkina Faso’s Notarial Order, Yacouba Dembélé, stated: “With this label, it is highly unlikely that notarized documents will be tampered with.”
The event, held on December 27 in Ouagadougou, was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, Harouna Kadio, who remarked: “This is a first on the African continent. As Burkinabè, we are proud to witness such an innovation in our national notarial system.”
