After a 1-1 draw in Abidjan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo secured qualification for CHAN 2024 by defeating Chad 3-1 in the return leg on Saturday at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa.
TP Mazembe player Oscar Kabwit opened the scoring in the 10th minute. However, Chad quickly responded, with Ahmat Abdraman equalizing in the 23rd minute.
The DRC regained the lead in the second half thanks to Jonathan Mokonzi’s goal in the 48th minute. Nyembo Ntumba’s third goal in the 52nd minute sealed the Leopards’ qualification for the final stage of the continental tournament. The final score was 3-1.
